Okay, I've stopped reading at

If you’ve ever watched any high elo streams, maybe you’ve noticed some of the top ranked solo queue players playing on smurfs or other accounts. Does it seem like they have a problem raising their elo, despite playing on accounts that are in “elo hell”?

So the author is trying to tell us that he compares mid-class players with 2200+ ELO players?

Does that mean to get 1600 ELO you actually have to be 2200+ skill-wise?

The argument seems pretty irrelevant.
2200+ Players can carry hard enough to win for people,
even they lose those games occasionally where they couldn't.

Props though for the typing work, but this put me off already :/

Anyways, been trying to keep on reading a little here and there, unfortunately my first impression
dragged itself throughout most of the chapters.

You’re first pick and set up good picks for your team during champ select. You play mid and first blood your opponent. You end up killing your opponent again, allowing your jungle to continually pressure other lanes, while forcing the enemy jungle to gank you at mid. You avoid the ganks and coordinate objectives for your team, such as ganking bottom successfully and taking dragon. You make more calls backed by your astute analysis of the game flow, explaining exactly what your team needs to do to lock in that win. Even when your team gets a little too cocky and feeds a few deaths, you manage to restrain your team’s suicidal tendencies and keep your team’s motivation high. Finally you prepare for a game ending baron fight, where your team successfully grabs baron, aces the enemy team, and pushes for the win.

Again, Hi 2200+ Elo play. I doubt you can expect that from a 1200 ELO player, not even the 2000's make such professional play occasionally,
and if they do there will always be someone who doesn't only feed a few deaths, but loses the lane by constantly acting like a mental retard.

Author is telling you to improve, otherwise, you shouldn't play ranked at all.

Well here's my personal impression on ranked:

I don't know if I should consider myself especially unlucky or so, but I don't get 50:50
as in terms of good teams and bad teams, more like 10:90 respectively.

So what I feel like is that you need to be skill-wise atleast a good 1800+ player to solo
carry 1200-1400 games on a really bad team, which I happen to meet rather often.

But what's the point in having to be like.. 500-800 ELO above your actual elo skill-wise to
win noticably more than 50% of the games? I'm just saying, that's my impression, because I have lots
of difficulties owning those games up and have only a few games where it's possible
to solo-carry because the lanes don't feed WAY too hard.

Well, to get out of there play duo queue but don't go on the same lane, you need more map/lane control.
I've seen a lot of AD carry/support duos losing just because of that.
Carrying solo queue is best done by melee solo top - trynd, nasus, olaf etc. Either you get an easy <25 minute win or it can get very random...

I've had best experiences with a strong roaming mid. Sion for instance can easily win lanes to prepare them for late game
where you as Sion fall off strongly.

I think that's one of the best choices imho, because top can easily be ganked and is therefor suspectible to very high jungle pressure.

1500-1700 elo is the worst part. Really, really terrible there

In solo rank, ALL ELO is terrible.

What helps me with getting higher is writing down in excel every game lose or win, what I did wrong and what I can improve, you can't count on others in solo queue

If you need to read a guide to get higher ELO, you shouldn't be playing ranked at all.
